Enforcement: Affected candidates (private civil action)
Scope: A candidate whose appearance, action or speech is altered with synthetic media in an electioneering communication can sue the sponsor. Including the disclosure "This (image/video/audio) has been manipulated" is an affirmative defense.
Maximum penalty: Injunctions; general or special damages against the sponsor; the court may award attorneys fees and costs.
